The PFA have announced the nominations for this season’s Player of the Year award, with Arsenal’s Samir Nasri the early favourite.
Wayne Rooney’s exceptional form last year won him the accolade but this year is expected to be a close race.
Tottenham Hotspur’s fine campaign have seen them recognised with two nominations for Gareth Bale and Rafael Van Der Vaart.
Scott Parker and Charlie Adam have both been acknowledges for fine season’s despite their side’s struggling to avoid relegation.
The big surprise is the omission of Manchester United’s Nani, but Nemanja Vidicwill represent the Old Trafford club.
The nominees are selected by all their fellow professionals from the Premier League and Football League. The winner will be announce on April 17.

Has has been nominated for the PFA Player Of The Year award along with the Young Player of the Year prize. The Frenchman has faded a little but his wonderful early season performances should not be forgotten.

Being made captain means he is now the leader as well as the rock at the back for United. He has won the award before and few would begrudge him a second gong after another fine season.

Charlie Adam has seen his star rise to incredible heights after a brilliant debut season in the Premier League with Blackpool. One thing is for certain, he will not be playing Championship football next season.
